Basic Bodybuilding Workouts for Beginners

By Beginner Bodybuilding Guide

If you are trying to get into bodybuilding you should know you have a hard road ahead. Of course it will be physically demanding. You will also have to change your eating habits. The best way to begin bodybuilding is to put together a good workout routine. First here are a few tips.

When working on gaining size don't over do it. Very often you will see people in the gym who are there for hours on end. They do set after set, with varying amounts of reps and don't seem to be doing anything but exhausting themselves. Over working yourself will not lead to bigger muscles. Make sure your routine has set limits to avoid over working your muscles.

Working more than a couple of muscle groups in a day is not a good idea. For example, if you are working out your legs one day don't add shoulders to the mix. When you work your legs out you are working a minimum of four major muscles, really their are more but we won't get into that now. Focus on a maximum of two muscle groups per day and then throw in a maintenance set.

Maintenance sets are important. If you only work out a muscle group once per week it probably is not getting enough work. If you are working your back and biceps, throw in a few sets for your chest. This will simply allow the group to get a small pump and make sure that the muscles will continue to be active.

For beginners, workouts should be about gaining some size, but also creating good balance. Make sure that you work each section of your body. If you neglect a section, or do not work it as hard, it will show. You don't want to have a huge chest and arms and have little skinny legs.

Lastly, be patient. Results don't happen over night. It will take at least 30 days to start to see some good results. It will take two months for you to notice some serious changes. Keep working towards your goal!
